Congressional Compromises Create Financial Overhaul

Earlier today, congressional negotiators were able to come to a middle ground with lawmakers to approve the biggest overhaul of American financial regulation since the Great Depression.

Recent news stories remind me of an old Sunday Peanuts comic strip. Snoopy is out jogging one day when his knees start to complain about the punishment they are taking from the jog. The lobbyists descend on government officials as the moneychangers did on the temple to ply their goods and peddle their influence. The guise used is not to change money but to educate the politicians regarding a bill in committee or one that is up for vote.
